spaceseeker

This project was part of a UI course with Design Lab. Over the course of 4 weeks I was tasked to create a website/app that allows users to book a venue space. I also had the opportunity to work 1:1 with a mentor with over 20years experience in the industry.
In all the project entailed creating a landing page, user flow, brand identity with style guide, low fidelity and high fidelity wireframes, and finally a prototype of my user flow.

The entire project was built on Figma with logo work created on Adobe Illustrator.

Takeaways

This course validated my passion for design. In which it clarified that my strengths are in optimizing how things look and are presented. As my mentor stated, “ I can tell you love to package experiences - you’re a mood maker”

and boy, is that true.

This course taught me to look at apps and user experience from a different lens. I was challenged to take a granular look at how an application works and takes the user to the desired outcome.

I created Spaceseeker as a website where users can search for and book event spaces available within their city; based on date, time, budget, and capacity.

I wanted it to feel grounding, retro, yet modern for the times. I used deep earth tones with a pop of color and large typography.

It was it important for me to create an aesthetically pleasing yet functional and seamless user experience.

User journey

The user arrives at Spaceseeker searching for a venue for their next event.

  • I knew I wanted the user to have access to begin their search immediately, hence we find the search bar on the hero section.

In this prototype of the user flow, we step into the experience as the user has put in their desired event type, city, time, and date.

Upon clicking “Let’s go” they are shown their inputs. They can now either edit individual fields or select Search

They are taken to a search results page with a list of venues available within their search boundaries.

User will be able to clear their search inputs and be taken back to landing page to begin a new search inquiry.

Or

User can favorite venues that catch their eye. If they are not yet logged in or signed up, they will be prompted to login/set up an account.

  • Once they login/ sign up the user has a new navigation in which they have access to a Favorites page and Account settings page.
